Oral Surgery Residency

So you want to be an Oral Surgeon??  Its funny you apply to dental school thinking that youre going to have the better quality of life as a dentist, and then you sign up for more torture geared towards call and misery.  whats it like on the other side? not sure.  I'm an intern in an omfs program.  Things are going well.   But you go into it gung ho and excited only to be greeted with pimping this and crazy patient that.

I don't want to whine, that's not what this page is about.  If I can shed some light on OMFS and what happens within this wonderful service, hey Ive accomplished what I set out to do.

Have you ever been in a fraternity?  Without the drinking of course... well for some.  My theory is that its a vicious cycle of malicious intent set upon a backdrop of inexperience.  What do I mean by that you ask?  Well basically some of the chiefs and seniors were abused, so they abuse the interns.  No big deal right? And where did the abuse begin anyhow?  It stems from the fact that OMFS has a hard on for proving their self worth due to the fact that they're on the top of the food chain in the world of dentistry however treated like second class citizens in the world of surgeons and MD's.
